Body Traces

Inspired by the anxious narratives of science-fiction horror, I use robotic or alien assimilation to explore feminine culture, and my own attempts to learn to successfully perform femininity. I play on e-commerce, fashion and beauty photography, as tools of feminine construct marketing and commodification. In these images, the photography studio becomes a futuristic or laboratory space of experimentation. Within this space, I examine the beauty ideals I am unable to successfully assimilate to. My lack of representation in the images becomes a mirror to my inability to see myself in the media I consume.
